STEPS IN MANUFACTURING

1.         Drawing

2.         Preparation of materials

3.         Planning / Scheduling

4.         Fabrication-quality control

5.         Assembly-quality control

6.         Testing

    Note:

For critical parts like casting and forgings and others, quality control processes like X-ray, ultrasonic, tensile and compression test, hardness and chemical analysis are subcontracted to Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC).

MACHINING

1.       The supervisor receives the drawing from the Production Planning and Control Group.

2.       Supervisor studies the drawing and discuss the process / method with the operator.

3.       Operator works on it. He is the responsible for the quality of his work. (For every critical parts,

personnel from the QC Group are being called for assistance).

4.       After fabrication, parts requiring hardening or plating are being sent to our sub-contractor.

·       After processing, parts are being inspected thoroughly and are certified if they meet the requirements.

5.       Final Machining

6.       Quality Control

7.       Delivery

WELDING

1.       Supervisor receives the drawing from the production, planning and control group

2.       Supervisor discusses drawings and method of  welding with welders.

3.       Welders  work on the difference welding machines (like in machining, he is also doing quality control

          of his work.

4.       Assembly

5.       Quality Control (visual and dimensions)

6.       Delivery

·     Other quality control process like X-ray, ultrasonic and others are being sub contracted to MIRDC

POLICY ON QUALITY CONTROL

This is to ensure the parts, components, sub-assemblies fabricated or supplied by clients for use in the production of their orders and that all incoming materials conform to the requirements of the company,

MACHINE SHOP/CASTING

1.    Incoming / Receiving Inspection Report

a.     Ocular inspection of materials and supplies purchased to ensure that they meet the specifications set by the

        company as per customer requirements

b.    Check dimensions of materials. Tool being used: calipers, meters and other measuring tools.

c.     Check dimensions of the sample given by the customer.

d.    Check drawing with standard specifications and agreement with the customer.

2.    In-process Inspection

A. Machine Shop

a.     After each operation and before proceeding to the next operation as indicated in the given route sheet given by the Production Control Group.

For turning, milling, grinding, drilling and other operations measuring tools like vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, 3-jaws micrometers are being used.

b.    Before and after the heat treatment process. For the softening procedures, we use the Brinell tester in getting the hardness and for hardening we use the Rockwell or Vickers hardness tester.

B. Casting

a.     Checking patterns before sending them to our sub-contractor Tools being used: Caliper and meter

b.    After casting, x-ray or ultrasonic testing after passing ocular inspection, to ensure that all casting are sound.

·                 This is being sent to testing center.

c.     Dimensional inspection of the casting before machining using calipers and meters.

Note:

For every critical part, chemical composition testing is also being requested from our sub-contractor.

1.    Rejections detected during production and their apparent causes shall be    recorded in the inspector report form, a copy of which shall be immediately forwarded to production control for proper action.

2.    Decisions and other actions on rejections shall be recorded to provide bases in analyzing the causes and effects and avoid their recurrence.

3.    Final Inspection

a.     Final inspection shall recognize two broad categories of quality characteristics, attributes, and the variables. In inspection by attributes, the unit of the product shall be classified as defective or non-defective with respective to prescribed set of requirements.

Inspection by variables, a quality characteristic shall be measured along a continuous numerical scale and shall be described in terms of position on that scale. Thus, variable inspection shall take into account the degree of conformance of the unit with the specified requirements for the characteristics involved.

a.     A final inspection report shall be prepared by the Quality Control inspector and shall contain the findings on the completed lot record in the completed inspection for attached to the report.

2.    All defective lots are labeled with metal marker detailing the nature of discrepancies.

3.    For finished/product/casting

a.     Visual inspection shall be conducted for cracks, pin hold shrinkage, excess metals and others.

b.    When required, dimensional inspection shall be conducted.

4.    All reports are being prepared by the quality control inspectors and submitted to the supervisor for evaluation of proper action.
